Brent Clanton, Executive Producer – Lance Roberts Show
Office: 281-542-3585 | Cell: 713-465-9365
Things looked pretty bleak for Brent Clanton in the Autumn of 2014, when Houston’s only all-news FM Radio station, News92FM, pulled the plug on the format. 47-journalists and a beagle puppy were thrust into the all too familiar position of having to reinvent themselves in order to survive. The following 13-months proved to be a most-interesting year for Clanton, a 40-year veteran of Radio…and reinvention.
He signed on as a part time announcer for other Houston Radio stations, including KSBJ (“God Listens”), Houston Public Media/News 88.7fm, and KNTH 1070am. Clanton continued to co-host “The Automotive Reporter Radio Show” with the irascible Harold Gunn. He learned to operate an aerial video camera, shooting news and traffic footage, and providing live news reports for KTRK-TV from 800-ft. over Houston’s freeway system.
He began a magazine column for Houston Woman Magazine, was inducted in the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and co-taught an MBA-level course at the University of Houston Downtown. He went back to school, and he looked for full time employment. He landed a position as Marketing Director for Baytown’s historic Community Resource Credit Union.
After four decades of building Radio stations, hosting talk shows, marketing, promoting and programming, the latest Clanton reinvention is as Executive Producer and Marketing Director for The Lance Roberts Show, which airs weekday mornings 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on AM700/KSEV, “The Voice of Texas.”
Brent and his wife, Darlene, have been married for 36-years (1979), and have two grown children, one grand-daughter, and a petulant, 3-pound Yorkie named Sophie.
